This warranty provides the same comprehensive coverage as the GAF Shingle & Accessory Limited Warranty, with the added benefit of Lifetime coverage for your qualifying accessory products. Depending on the products you choose, you may also qualify for the WindProven Limited Wind Warranty. For full details, coverage, and any restrictions, please refer to the GAF Roofing System Limited Warranty.

  • What Are the Benefits of the System Plus Limited Warranty?

The System Plus Limited Warranty offers all the benefits of the GAF Roofing System Limited Warranty, with added perks. It extends the Smart Choice Protection Period from 10 years to an impressive 50 years and includes tear-off coverage when necessary. For full details on coverage and any restrictions, please refer to the System Plus Limited Warranty.

  • What Are the Benefits of the Silver Pledge Limited Warranty?

The Silver Pledge Limited Warranty includes all the protections of the System Plus Limited Warranty, plus an added 10 years of workmanship coverage and disposal services when necessary. For full details, coverage, and any restrictions, refer to the Silver Pledge Limited Warranty.

  • What Are the Benefits of the Golden Pledge Limited Warranty?

The Golden Pledge Limited Warranty includes all the coverage of the Silver Pledge Limited Warranty, with an extended workmanship coverage lasting 20, 25, or even 30 years, depending on the shingles you choose. For full coverage details and any restrictions, please refer to the Golden Pledge Limited Warranty.

  • What Does “Lifetime Limited Warranty” Mean?

“Lifetime” in your GAF warranty refers to the duration of coverage, which applies as long as you, the original owner(s) (or the second owner(s) if coverage was transferred during the Smart Choice Protection Period), own the property where GAF shingles and accessories were installed. This Lifetime Limited Warranty is available for shingles and accessories installed on a single-family detached residence owned by individuals. For other types of ownership or buildings, such as corporations, government entities, condos, homeowner associations, schools, apartments, offices, or multi-use structures, the warranty coverage period is 40 years.

  • What Is the “Smart Choice Protection Period”?

The Smart Choice Protection Period is the initial period after GAF product installation when your warranty coverage is fully non-prorated. During this time, GAF provides complete coverage. Once this period ends, any warranty claim will be adjusted based on the time since installation, reflecting the product’s usage. This adjustment is calculated by dividing the number of months since installation by the warranty term’s months. For a Lifetime Limited Warranty, the term is considered 600 months for years 11–40, with GAF contributing 20% after year 40. For example, a claim at 25 years (300 months) would receive a 50% settlement.

  • What Coverage Is Provided for Defects in GAF Products?

If GAF approves a warranty claim for a manufacturing defect within the Smart Choice Protection Period, they will supply replacement GAF products and cover the full reasonable cost of labor for installation. After this period, labor costs are no longer covered, and the replacement product amount will be adjusted based on the product’s usage from the installation date to the claim date.

  • What Coverage Is Available for Workmanship?

Both the Golden Pledge Limited Warranty and Silver Pledge Limited Warranty provide coverage for misapplication of GAF products and flashings at critical areas such as valleys, dormers, chimneys, and plumbing vents (referred to as “Covered Flashings”). This coverage, commonly known as “workmanship” coverage, is exclusively available through GAF Master Elite Roofing Contractors. To find a GAF Master Elite Roofing Contractor in your area, please visit our contractor locator.

If GAF identifies an application error that falls under the coverage of the Golden Pledge or Silver Pledge Limited Warranty, GAF will arrange for your roof to be repaired or may provide replacement GAF products at their discretion. Additionally, GAF will reimburse you for the full reasonable cost of labor and materials required for the repair, including Covered Flashings. For complete coverage details and any restrictions, please refer to the Golden Pledge Limited Warranty and Silver Pledge Limited Warranty.

  • What Coverage Is Available for Algae?

Algae warranty coverage is included in all GAF warranties for shingles and accessories. StainGuard Plus-labeled shingles come with a 25-year limited warranty, featuring a 10-year non-prorated period against algae discoloration caused by blue-green algae (cyanobacteria). StainGuard-labeled shingles and ridge cap shingles offer a 10-year limited warranty with a 1-year non-prorated period. However, there is no algae discoloration coverage for any other GAF accessory products. If a claim is approved, GAF will cover the reasonable cost of professionally cleaning your shingles or ridge cap shingles or, at GAF’s discretion, replace the discolored shingles or ridge cap shingles. For complete coverage details and restrictions, please refer to the applicable warranty.

  • What Coverage Is Available for Wind Damage?

Wind warranty coverage is included in all GAF warranties for shingles and accessories. This coverage lasts for 15 years for GAF shingles and ridge cap shingles, but it does not extend to other GAF accessory products. The maximum wind speed coverage varies based on the type of shingles or ridge cap shingles installed, as well as the installation method used. If a claim is approved, GAF will reimburse you for the reasonable costs associated with replacing blown-off or damaged shingles and ridge cap shingles, as well as hand-sealing any unsealed shingles or ridge cap shingles. For complete coverage details and restrictions, please refer to the applicable warranty.

  • What Do I Need to Do to Get the “WindProven Limited Wind Warranty,” and What Does It Cover?

The WindProven Limited Wind Warranty is an industry-leading 15-year limited wind warranty that comes with no maximum wind speed limitation. To qualify for this warranty, you must install GAF LayerLock-labeled shingles along with at least four qualifying GAF accessory products, including GAF Ridge Cap Shingles, GAF Starter Strip Shingles, and a GAF Roof Deck Protection Product. Additionally, you will need to choose either a GAF Leak Barrier Product or a GAF Attic Ventilation Product. For a complete list of qualifying GAF shingles and accessory products, please visit gaf.com/LRS.

The WindProven Limited Wind Warranty specifically covers only your LayerLock-labeled shingles and does not extend to any GAF accessory products. If a claim is approved, GAF will reimburse you for reasonable costs associated with replacing blown-off or damaged shingles and hand-sealing any unsealed shingles. For complete coverage details and restrictions, refer to the GAF Roofing System Limited Warranty.

  • What Is NOT Covered by My GAF Warranty?

Your GAF warranty does not cover any issues that arise from anything other than inherent manufacturing defects in GAF products or their misapplication (if you have a Golden Pledge or Silver Pledge Limited Warranty). This includes, but is not limited to, problems caused by inadequate ventilation. It’s essential to discuss ventilation requirements with your roofing contractor before installing your new roof to ensure optimal performance and warranty coverage.
